Navigating Through The Hustle

Who would have known we’d have THIS much to be thankful for.

At the beginning of this year I was contemplating my career path. I was debating whether photography was really that thing that could support my family like it once was. I even thought about going back to school to finish my teaching degree. I thought about picking up a job waiting tables or maybe even finding a day job that I could be passionate about.

I think the hardest part about being an entrepreneur is that you can easily see the value in pursuing new paths but you can’t actually tell if that is the right path for YOU until you’re in it.

During this time I tried tirelessly to get back into the art of creating and went to a few photography shootouts just to get that inspired passion back. But I was left each time feeling that I was trying to make something work that just really wasn’t igniting that passion for me anymore.

I’ve shared my struggles with you all towards the beginning of the year when I felt lost, unsure, and struggling to find my purpose. I think a lot of that stemmed from feeling I had hit a dead end.

I knew exactly what I wanted, what I would not compromise, and how much money I strived to make. I knew there was a reason I had left the past in the past and I knew I wasn’t willing to compromise any of the time freedom or peace I had worked so incredibly hard for.

As I sit here today, enjoying a holiday weekend with my family and friends, I have never been more sure about the path I am on than I am right now.

It reminds me of the days where I first picked up my camera and got completely lost in the art of creating. Eventually that passion started bringing me in an income that our family desperately needed and that incredible choice lead to later building a million dollar+ business that blessed our family in more ways than I could have ever imagined. That one choice to start my own photography business snowballed into something so big and so beautiful.

And with all things, the seasons change.

While photography may not be lighting the fire inside me that it once was, something else has come along.

It’s given me that can’t eat, can’t sleep, shoot for the stars feeling and it’s so incredible to be in this right NOW after the long days that turned to months of feeling lost and unsure.

I guess what I’m trying to say is, if you can resonate with feeling lost and unsure about your future, if you know deep down inside you that you were meant to do big things…. then take it from me, you NEVER know what that ONE decision can turn into.

I’m only 4 months into my new venture but the universe has sent me signs every single day that I am absolutely in the right place. 4 months in and I’m on track for this month to be bigger than my past 3 months combined and I truly can say this is only the beginning.

If you need a starting point, start by learning a new skill and see where that skill can take you. Be open to opportunities. Don’t be afraid to take risks. And stop believing there is only one way to make money because it is everywhere, you just have to align with it and let it flow to you. If it feels like a dead end, maybe it’s just a detour.

And it is absolutely okay to let go of those things that aren’t filling your cup because before you know it your cup will be overflowing and you’ll just be just as thankful for the struggles as you are the succeses.
